A BIG game requires a BIG performance On Sunday, we faced Tamworth Mercia Women’s FC.
A massive game for us, if we wanted to strengthen our claim to the league title. They’ve been smashing the league & were coming into the game unbeaten. Not a team to underestimate….It really was end to end football. As much as they pushed, we pushed back. When we conceded, we responded. Was it a beautiful game? Silky passing and creativity? No. It was a tough, gritty, physical game. It took the girls to dig deep & give as good as they got. It was a grind. And every player gave everything they had & when you leave it all out there on the pitch , you get what you deserve… 3 points This team are black & blue from Sunday. But that’s what it means to them. Every single player wanted to be out there on that pitch. Every single player knew what the win would mean and they went out & got it. You can only practice so much at training, learning core principles and talking tactics. But it’s down to each individual player to give 100%. That’s the character of the team
MPOTM Jo Lawrence - Jo was solid in this game, one of (if not) the best performance I’ve seen! She held her position, battled and tackled for every ball and made it impossible to go passed her. She was involved in everything. On top of that, her ball distribution from the centre of the pitch was dangerous
PPOTM Mollie Richardson - Mollie’s making it hard not to be first name on the team sheet lately, with a string of great performances. 2 great goals (including a cheeky free kick) and always an attacking presence - the team have named her their player’s player Just a massive thank you to all our team/player sponsors we couldn’t do this without you UP THE TOWN
